28 Days to Ecstasy for Couples: Tantra Step by Step
by Al Link and Pala Copeland

We’ve discovered during our 10 years of teaching that, while many couples are keenly interested in the Tantric path, they rarely have enough time to delve as deeply into the practice as they'd like to. As well, in this complex and fast-paced world, they want straightforward, easy to comprehend advice on how to learn new skills and make life changes.

So, we’ve designed this playbook for busy couples like you, who are intrigued by the idea of Tantra but don’t have a lot of time. It's an action book, not a book of theory or analysis. Its essence is a detailed 28-day plan with step-by-step instructions for simple, fun-to-do Tantric activities that will strengthen relationships and intensify sexual/spiritual connection. The exercises are quite short—from one to thirty minutes. On average you'll spend no more than 20 minutes per day on sacred loving practice—less time than you spend watching TV or reading the paper. Once per week there are longer lovemaking periods in which you explore the delights of sacred loving fueled by the exercises you've learned.

Yoga

Yoga means union. Although many in the West automatically assume that yoga means Hatha Yoga and that it is primarily for physical fitness and health, the purpose of all yoga is to enable the practitioner to realize wholeness by reuniting body, mind, heart, and soul, ultimately awakening to enlightenment. Hatha Yoga is a physical, energetic, and spiritual practice suitable to any age, health status, or fitness level. Most styles of Hatha Yoga emphasize relaxing into the physical movements rather than straining to go further than your body is comfortable with. Generally speaking, don’t bother with yoga unless you intend to slow down. One exception is Astanga Yoga, a vigorous workout quite suitable for training athletes.

Vedanta

All styles of yoga are part of the Indian Hindu Vedanta spiritual tradition. and they are all undertaken with the purpose (not goal) of awakening to full self-realization, enlightenment, nirvana, or god consciousness. These terms are used here interchangeably, all suggesting the same outcome, to allow the ego-self to dissolve into union with absolute consciousness. There are many types of yoga and each of these categories contains many variations.

Some of the most important schools of yoga.
  • Bhakti Yoga is the path of pure love or devotion to God.

  • Karma Yoga is the path of selfless action with all activities and results offered to God.
