The Fourth Freedom: Soul (Part 1 of 7)

The Fourth Freedom: Soul
One and All

You are a soul that has a body, not a body that has a soul. At first glance this might seem a petty semantic difference, but on further consideration the difference is profound. Instead of being a body with a soul trapped inside longing to escape back to the One, the All, the Source, as a soul inhabiting a body you remain part of the All. Your soul connects you to everything because it is everything. Soul takes on material reality by joining with an individual body, mind, and heart. In the words of Candace Pert, “We are each of us an individual nodal point, each an access point into a larger intelligence… [that] big psychosomatic network in the sky.”

Happiness – Soul Freedom (Part 7 of 7)

Happiness

Happiness is your birthright. Happiness does not need to be a fleeting, momentary, and fragile thing. Happiness is a natural accompaniment to Soul Freedom. Soul finds happiness in simplicity, in the mystery of everyday life—the warmth of a lovers’ touch, the interplay of stimulating conversation, the satisfaction of a job done well together.

Soul Freedom Exercise (16): Once Before I Die

SOUL FREEDOM EXERCISES
Exercises To Do Together

ONCE BEFORE I DIE…

The soul exists beyond time and space, beyond life and death of the body. For the soul, death is merely a doorway from one place to another, not something to fear and avoid. But while we are in a body we are loath to think about leaving it. This simple exercise is a way for you to bring the subject of death gently into your consciousness without raising fear, so that death becomes a valuable advisor. No one gets out of life alive. As the realization dawns that someday you too will die, you find a powerful motivation to live now. By focusing on what you want, you will feel truly alive.

This very simple exercise helps you quickly identify some things which matter to you but which you might never have previously given yourself permission to strive for.

Time for Exercise: five minutes

Properties Required: none

Steps:

Each partner simply completes this sentence at least once or any number of times: “Once before I die…”

Comments:

It is not required as part of the exercise that you do anything with your statements of desire. But once a desire has been spoken out loud, it has been given life, and you might be surprised at how you begin to mobilize your resources to move toward full realization of your desire. You might also be astonished at how quickly the universe comes to your assistance.

Ceremony and Ritual – Soul Freedom (Part 6 of 7)

Ceremony and Ritual

Through ritual, ceremony, and energy practices, we touch the unknown and the unknowable—the divine mystery. Ritual and ceremony are the language of the soul. They activate the awesome, magical possibilities in the imaginal realm of our creativity. We are amazed, astonished, and filled with wonder. We are renewed. Such mystery is never knowable in advance, never predictable, and therefore never boring.

Ritual is the soul’s language.

Freedom and Responsibility – Soul Freedom (Part 2 of 7)

"Freedom and Responsibility"

The essence of Soul Freedom is faith. Science is what you believe because of the evidence. In spiritual matters, faith is what you believe, despite evidence to the contrary. Faith enables you to keep going when all appears hopeless and to say, “That can’t be all the evidence.” With faith you know that however bad the current situation might be, something better is just around the corner. Cynicism is the opposite of faith. The cynic knows that nothing will turn out well, no matter how good things are right now. However fashionable and humorous cynicism might be, ultimately it will drag you down, while faith will lift you higher and higher.

When you are in a relationship centered in Soul Freedom, you have faith that you can create a passionate, harmonious life with your mate even though couples around you might be leading lives of stressed dullness and disconnection. You have faith that together you can weather the storms that life will rain on you and that your relationship can be the rock to keep you safe above the flood.

Soul Freedom Exercise (19): The Circle

THE CIRCLE

What is left unsaid?

In the book Mutant Message Down Under by Marlo Morgan,  a doctor working with an indigenous tribe asked the people to name their physician or medicine person. The villagers replied that no one person played that role because everyone shared in it. They further explained that when the village dealt with sickness, the patient would sit in their midst as they formed a circle. A spokesperson would ask the patient, “What has been left unsaid?” Everyone would then wait until the patient found the words and said what had been unsaid. Sometimes the villagers would wait for days. Remarkably their cure rate was 98 percent.

Time for Exercise: as long as it takes

Properties Required: a circle of friends or acquaintances

Steps:

Form a circle…
