When my girlfriend and I are having intercourse she sometimes bleeds right before or during her climax. Is that normal or is something wrong with her, or am I doing something wrong?
ANSWER
Bleeding at orgasm can be caused by a number of different factors:
1. Sex that’s a bit too rough and/or toys that are too large, too intense
2. When a woman orgasms, the uterus contracts, so any loose blood inside, from the menstrual cycle or from uterine lesions for instance, is forced out
3. Certain birth control like depo provera
4. Uterine infection or other physical conditions like: uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, or endometriosis
If this happens often your girlfriend should consider a thorough check up by a gynecologist.
