Sideways – “The Lovers’ Scissors”

 

The “lovers’ scissors” is our morning meditation together, but you can do it at any time of day or as a meditation at bedtime. We sleep nude, usually curled up like spoons, and immediately upon waking assume this loving posture, holding it for anywhere from 5-30 minutes depending upon how much time we have. Used in this way, the “lover’s scissors” is not actually considered a sexual position, but rather a loving energy meditation. Although there is genital connection, this meditation is not intercourse for sexual arousal—there is no active thrusting or drive to complete an orgasm. It is for balancing your masculine and feminine energies and connecting emotionally and spiritually with your lover.

Experiment with doing this every day for several weeks and then not doing it for a few days. You will notice that its effects are cumulative, important and powerful. When you do the exercise daily, you will relate to each other more respectfully, appreciatively, and lovingly. You will also have greater personal resilience and resources for dealing with all the stresses and challenges of living. When we do this regularly, we are calm and loving toward each other. When we skip it for a while (more than 4 days in a row) we can start to get antsy and even a little snarly with each other!

 

Lover’s Scissors Meditation Instructions

  • The man lies on his side and the woman on her back. The woman’s leg closest to her lover goes over top of his hip. Her other leg goes between his legs. This is the “scissors”. You are at a 90-degree angle to each other. Your heads are apart and your genitals are connected.

  • Slide penis into vagina. Soft entry works fine—use saliva or lubricant as needed.

  • The key is to be able to stay relaxed, connected, comfortable and still.

  • Breathe slowly and deeply—harmonize your breathing, if you wish look into each other’s eyes.

  • Place your hands on each other’s heart.

  • Simply allow yourself to BE in the experience.

  • Be silent.

  • If you drift off into sleep that is fine, but do not allow your mind to intrude with thoughts unrelated to your loving connection.

 

When you have some experience working with your sexual energy, add these more advanced elements to your connection

  • Focus on the energy connection between you, extending out from your genitals.

  • You may occasionally tighten your PC muscles to help focus your attention on your genitals and to move energy up from them.

  • Bring energy from your genitals up to your heart.

  • Allow your heart to open to your lover.

  • Allow energy to flow from your heart to the top of your head then down to your eyes and through your eyes into your lover.

  • Direct energy that comes from your lover in through your eyes down to your genitals.

  • Or, put it in your belly chakra for later use.

  • Or, send it to whatever part of your body may need healing.

 

If you become “spaced out”, anxious or hyperactive, because you have accumulated a high-energy charge do grounding.
