I am a 17 year old girl. I have a big problem. I have a small family. My mom, my little brother, and my sister. My father died a few years ago. My married sister came to our home with her husband. My sister’s husband age is 33 years old. One day my brother went to school and my mom and sister went shopping. My sister’s husband called me to his room. When I got there he was naked in bed. He called me closer and then I lost my virginity. I did not tell anyone. Please tell me what should I do?
ANSWER:
You may be under the age where you can legally give sexual consent. It depends upon the state you are in, or the country. Here is a website with the age for sexual consent for most countries in the world. As you can see from this page, the age of consent for sex in most US states is between 16-18. Check your state to see.

If you are under the age for giving consent to sexual activity you could have a legal claim of statutory rape. If you are over the age of consent you cannot claim anything by saying you were too young. But if you were forced against your will or threatened in any way to win your consent you could press charges.
Beyond that I would strongly recommend that you share your story with the rest of your family or you will not be protected from further incidents.
