Surveys have shown that typical lovemaking lasts under thirty minutes from start to finish, in virtually every country around the planet. Tantric lovers, on the other hand, extend lovemaking over a period of hours. Extending lovemaking not only increases your pleasure, but also allows for a proper appreciation and honoring of the gender differences between the warriors of love. It usually takes a woman much longer than a man to come to full sexual arousal. Unfortunately lovemaking that finishes in less than thirty minutes may leave the lady frustrated and dissatisfied with her experience. Taking lots of time with foreplay is therefore an important part of Tantric lovemaking.

You might consider foreplay to include everything leading up to intercourse. Don’t make the error of judgment in believing that foreplay is somehow second best to intercourse. When you are fully present in the now moment, and if you are connecting emotionally and energetically, every touch, every glance of the eyes, and every breath is as erotic, intense and satisfying as an actual orgasm.

"Conversation with wine"

One of the most important gender differences between men and women is that generally men open their hearts after sexual intercourse, but women are not eager for sexual intercourse until after their hearts are opened. One way to make the emotional connection that will open your hearts is to share flirtatious, playful conversation over a glass of wine.

There is a long tradition in Tantric ritual of using wine, cannabis and other herbal aphrodisiacs to stimulate libido and enhance sexual performance. Beware—moderation is best—more is not necessarily better when it comes to alcohol and drugs.
