Tantra and Christianity - A Merging

At the Voiz Blog, September 5, 2006, Aaron Flores makes an important connection between Tantra and Christianity. In his blog he suggests that a life is most meaningful if it includes the qualities of both imminence and transcendence. In Tantric terms imminence is the quality of being fully immersed and aware, fully in a body, unflinchingly a part of the world, connected to everything around you through the pleasure of the senses, while the quality of transcendence brings to your conscious awareness the experience of being part of something much larger than your small ego self, merging in union with the divine, an awakening to God-consciousness as the very ground of your being. Tantra is at its best when it is not only limited to a sexual expression or experience, but awakens a spiritual sensibility. Christianity is at its best when it honors real people, living real lives, in real bodies, while also emphasizing the awakening to the unconditional love of Christ-consciousness.
